Ultrafiltration Membrane Technology

Ultrafiltration Membrane (UF)

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a separation principle for screening, with pressure as the driving force to realize mechanical separation membrane separation process. Under certain pressure, when the mixed solution of large molecules or small molecule solute passes through the membrane surface, solvent and small molecule solutes pass through the membrane, while the solute molecules are intercepted by mechanical filtration membrane as concentrate.

Advanced Filtration Technology

Hollow Fiber Ultrafiltration Membrane

Hollow fiber ultrafiltration membrane is an important form of separation membrane. The membrane pores are capillary, and the micropores are located on the wall of the tube. The solution is purified, separated and concentrated based on whether its components can pass through these micropores.

Key Advantages

  • Largest effective area per unit volume among membrane components
  • High filtration and separation efficiency
  • Easy cleaning and simple structure
  • Easy operation and cost-effective
  • No secondary pollution in production process
The production process does not produce secondary pollution, making ultrafiltration membrane technology widely used across various industries for water treatment and purification applications.

External Pressure VS Internal Pressure

Understanding the two fundamental operating modes of hollow fiber ultrafiltration membranes and their distinct filtration mechanisms.

External Pressure Outside-In Process
1

External Pressure (Outside-In)

The original liquid is driven by the pressure difference, penetrates radially from the outside to the inside, through the hollow fiber to become the osmotic fluid, and the trapped concentrated material is collected in the outside of the hollow fiber.

Outside-In Flow
Radial Penetration
External Collection
Internal Pressure In-Outside Process
2

Internal Pressure (In-Outside)

The original solution enters the hollow fiber membrane, driven by the pressure difference, radial from inside to outside through the hollow fiber into osmotic fluid, concentrated liquid is left in the hollow fiber, from the other end out.

Inside-Out Flow
Internal Processing
Fiber Retention

Key Differences Comparison

Flow Direction Outside to Inside Inside to Outside
Concentrate Location Outside of hollow fiber Inside hollow fiber
Filtrate Collection Through fiber wall Outside fiber surface
Pressure Application External shell side Internal lumen side
